Shirley Jean Ponceby, 84, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at her Waterville, Ohio home surrounded by her loving family and cats Emily and Jackson.
Born on January 4, 1930 in Bowling Green, Ohio. Married to Gordon Francis Ponceby from April 24, 1948 until he passed away on April 9, 1984. Shirley was a loving wife and mother. She was hardworking retailer: co-owner of Little House gift shop in Waterville, Ohio, and long time employee at the Whitehouse Apothecary.
Also preceded by her parents Lola (Seem) and Paul Armstrong; and her siblings Irma (John) Zabowski, Rose (Lloyd) Fletcher, and James Armstrong.
Survived by her sisters Linda (Earnie) Columber and Louise (David) Watts; children Gayle (Tony) Iacofano, Edward, David (Pam), Bruce, and Laura (Tom) Zitzelberger; grandchildren Ian Ponceby, Chris (Evelyn) Iacofano, and Kim (Aaron) Wilhelm; and great grandchildren Sidney Paige Wilhelm and Ruby Jean Wilhelm.
Also survived by many nieces and nephews of the Armstrong, Columber, Fletcher, Watts, and Zabowski families.
Suggest memorial donations be made to Nature's Nursery, Whitehouse, Ohio, to help care for those little creatures like her cats, Emily and Jackson, whom she believed 'were made to be loved'.
Yes, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease;
I shall profess, within the vail,
A life of joy and peace.
