Seven Deadly Emotions of Caregiving

GUILT
Caregivers repeatedly feel they did the 'wrong' thing.
This can be corrosive and counter productive.
Caregivers should lower their standards from ideal to real.
Respite Care helps caregivers determine those realistic standards.

RESENTMENT
Caregivers are feeling out-of-control abuse.
This leads to depression.
Caregivers should vent to a confidante or journal.
Respite Care becomes the caregivers' confidante.

ANGER
Caregivers feel their situation is exceedingly out-of-control.
This leads to heart disease, digestive-tract disorders, and headaches.
Caregivers should do deep breathing exercises,
let go, become more assertive, and find humor.

Respite Care takes control, helps caregivers let go,
gives them confidence, and provides laughter.

WORRY
Caregivers obsess over the what-if's.
This causes sleep loss, head and stomach aches, and over or under eating.
Caregivers should consciously limit their negative thoughts and seek help.
Respite care helps caregivers have more positive and less negative thoughts.

LONELINESS
Caregivers' social world is shrinking.
This curbs willpower and causes overeating, drinking, and even dementia.
Caregivers should expand social circles,
get respite help, and join support groups.

Respite care expands the caregivers social world
and provides them time to be more social.

GRIEF
Caregivers anticipate the steady certain loss of their loved ones.
This leads to guilt, sadness, and depression.
Caregivers should 'allow' the grief, tell others,
and make time for themselves.

Respite care empathizes with caregivers and
provides them time for just themselves.

DEFENSIVENESS
Doing so much makes caregivers feel right and
their less involved critics wrong.

This makes caregivers closed-minded to a possibly better way.
Caregivers should not take things personally and
stay focused on what is best for their loved one.

Respite care shares the caregivers workload and
helps them stay properly focused on their loved one.

Seven Poison Ivy Identifiers

Seven Poison Ivy Identifiers

If butterflies land there,
Don't put your hand there.

Leaves of three,
Let it be.

Hairy vine,
No friend of mine.
Raggy rope,
Don't be a dope.

Berries white,
Danger in sight.
Berries white,
Run in fright.

Longer middle stem,
Stay away from them.

Red leaflets in the spring,
It's a dangerous thing.

Side leaflets like mittens,
Will itch like the dickens.
